the price I pay

So after a wonderful evening with my boys i thought we are going to sleep great tonight and have a great day tomorrow!  but of course that is not how the night went.  When mom leave's town there is a price to pay when you get back.  I never know what that price is going to be but I'm sure to pay it.  Last night it was a visit from Bobby at 330 am B:mamma can I sleep with you?  M: no Bobby you have to go back to bed.  Do you want to go alone or should I walk you back?  B: nooooooo I want you to hold me pleeeese? M: I love you bobby but no you have to sleep in your bed. Ill walk you there. B: the blankets are wet mom.
M: no they are not now get in bed and Ill cover you up.  I love you. CRAP they are wet everywhere! Seriously it has been a good year since he has wet the bed and he picks tonight to do it! And to top it off he had changed into different pj's before he came to my room and was wide awake which meant several more visits through the night and I didn't get to sleep again till 6am.  So by by rested, relaxed mamma hello tired frustrated mamma! My prayer tonight is to sleep uninterrupted? Pleeeeeese!
PS this morning henry ran to the car and back in and said mom see I didn't forget your red flower I just left it in the car do you like it?  Oh Henry you are so sweet!  (a wilted red tulip)  It is in a vase on the island.
Good night

the boys are back in town!

What a great week we have all had!  The boys got to go and stay with Aunt Sara, Uncle Bradly and Samuel for 7 days and with Nanny n Papa for 1 day which according to Henry means they have been away from me for 7 days!  All week I have been wondering do they even miss me, have they even noticed I'm not there with them, from all the updates i've been getting its nothing but fun times in Dodge City!  But thats exactly it I've only had updates no little voices on the other end of the phone no video chats nothing!  I know I know we were all afraid if they heard my voice they would get homesick but uggggg I missed them. Don't get me wrong, 8 days 4 at home 4 in a fantastic suite in Chicago being much fancier than my real life ever is was wonderful, indulgent, relaxing and most of all recharging, but man did I miss my guys! Henry came running up the stairs first M O M and jumped into my arms and let me hug and kiss on him a bunch but as quickly as he came in he was off and running to the bathroom I gotta go mom really bad! Then in came Bobby he tried to be a bit more coy about his excitement of coming home but quickly changed his tune and was wanting snuggles and  kisses and had plenty to give me to!  Thomas came charging in on Bobby's snuggles but would have nothing to do with kisses and hugs (I think he might be mad at me) he would only give a kiss on the cheek and no way was I getting anywhere near kissing him! They all warmed up after baths which was the first thing we did (they smelled like grandma) I can't have my boys smelling like grandma no no no its off to bath we go. Then present time I said what did you get me? Henry: I forgot mom I was going to get you red flowers because you like them but I forgot to get them for you.  I'll remember next time mama.  He wanted to know where I went and when I told him Chicago he said I should have stayed with you, I wanted to go to Chicago!  He was thrilled to get his new book, Good Night Chicago, we read it a couple times before it was time for bed but they wanted to know what the other present was so they got a sneek peek at the paper airplane book but only a quick look till tomorrow after school when we will make a bunch of cool airplanes.
Off to bed everyone went, Thomas still had no kisses for mama but I did get several I sluv u mama's so were good now.  Henry and Bobby on the other hand had a million snuggles for me and man was it hard to pull myself out of that bed.  Henry said I am going to hold you all night mama and you can't get up at all were going to hold you and hold you.  So we said our prayers and I sang our songs (jesus loves you, twinkle twinkle little star, and amazing grace) and they were both out like the lights.
I can't wait to see them tomorrow I still miss them and they are only a room away. Night night boys I love you!

Saras post

My sister has given me a wonderful respite for the next few days THANK YOU Sara!  I am missing them terribly and can't wait to see them but wow what a mom can get done in just a few days! So here is my update on how everyone is doing.
I just got thomas down and they are all sleeping just fine even bobby ! the day was not really eventful just the normal bickering samuel is handling all of them being in his space pretty well but he has decide he doesn't want a baby brother OR a sister . in his exact words momma i don't want a baby they are to much work! after he had been helping thomas do several things it was very funny ! Tomorrow is going to rain so in the morning first thing i am going to get them out of the house and we are going to run to the bank and the get donuts etc then bring them home play a  card game or something then nap time for thomas and movie time for big boys. They all want to play down stairs for some reason witch will work well for tomorrows icky day I am going to continue working on the storage while they play. It might not run as smoothly as that down there though i still have quite a few things to put away down there SUCH A PAIN IN MY BUTT ! so we will see there aren't any windows down there so they can play t-ball and catch and be crazy all they want i just hope that they don't get board to tears we will have to go run them at the mall if the rain lasts as long as they say it is going to like the next several days ugggggggg might kill my self if this report is true. Ok so thomas is about the most adorable thing ever he is at my side all day and falls asleep in my arms almost instantly! I know its because we hold our babies the same and it is soo sweet! If i am not there god-parent ill be pissed after this week! Thomas and i sat up later than the other boys and i let him go into the puppy room with me and he was like oh no frankies is pooping it, then i let one lick my nose and he thought it was sooo funny ! but wouldn't stop hiding his nose ! Also when he saw one of the puppies actually nursing he was like OH NO look at dat puppy!
ok i am going to do my quiet time and hit the sack i am enjoying the boys and so is bradly pray that it continues to be this way also pray for Samuel to be able to handle it in a big boy way i am hoping that tis will help a few samuelisms we are trying to break him of. It will be good for him just hard on us and him to go this long sharing his things + his daddy + mommy + attention etc you know what i mean but i know as silly as it seems i know it is going to be very good for samuel and a few hard lessons! I can already tell you we wold love to keep one of them for you so you guys can try for a girl...
Night
Sara

catching up

So its been forever I guess thats how it goes when there are three little men running my life!
Let's see where to start?
winter
We have had a rough but great winter here in the Day house. We all had Swine flu to start off the fall then countless colds and coughs then there was Bill and my trip to Clearwater Fl that was quite relaxing and cold but our return was greeted by Henry's pneumonia, Bobby's bronchitis, and Thomas's green nose!
Christmas was filled with storybook anticipation and we started a wonderful tradition of paper-crafting all the decorations on the tree together. Every afternoon we would go to the craft room and make paper garland or snowflakes, angels, hearts etc. What a fun way to spend the cold afternoons and it was the most beautiful tree we have ever had!
The week after Christmas we went to Dillon Colorado and the big boys learned how to ski! They really took to it incredibly well. The first day of ski school by mid morning they were in the second day class because they were out doing the other kids and the second day we were the teachers and they were fantastic, wild but fantastic. Not bad for these flatlander kansas boys! The rest of the winter back in KC Bill took them up to Snow Creek where they really got the hang of it and Henry decided Bill and Bobby were just to slow for him and took off on his own! Much to Bills surprise he looks up to see Henry flying down the black slope, granted it is Kansas so I imagine it is like a CO blue slope but still! We can't wait to get them back on the slopes again next winter and I believe that this is another Christmas tradition we have started, a week in CO skiing with the boys!
Henry lost his first tooth March 31 and we spent 2weeks talking about it and tugging on it till Caleb came over one night and just pushed and pulled the right amount and out it popped! Henry came running in just beaming and holding his tooth, the tooth fairy brought him $3 and a stack of quarters! At school Henry is known for being the fastest freeze tagger and will only wear his fast shoes, no slowing him down! He is so excited to be going to kindergarden next year where he will be a Leawood Leopard! I think it is going to be a wonderful year for him. There are 9 kids in our neighborhood going to kindergarden this fall and we are spending a lot of time getting to know everyone. I am thrilled by all the families we are near and am so grateful that we get to have so many wonderful families and friends we get to share our experience with.
Henry has also started soccer this spring and is loving it. He is using that speed on the field and is quite coordinated, he has scored a goal at each game and has been (as always) very helpful to his team mates in steeling the ball. After he scores a goal it is so cute how his chest puffs out and he is an inch taller with pride. He is also loving tennis and is a pretty good shot for only just beginning. My first baby is not a baby at all anymore and is really 6 years old how can that possibly be? But its true, he is a wonderful big brother and is especially good with babies. Every morning on our drive to school we say our morning prayers and his are always finished with "and please give us a baby sister and another baby brother" All I have to say to that is good luck maybe you have an "IN" with the big guy.
Bobby has had a great year at school. He has made a best friend Noah they play so well together and Bobby and Thomas just love to go to Noah's Gym (where us moms play tennis together) then we all go out to lunch and at 1 Bobby and Noah have gymnastics class while Thomas and I watch. Bobby is very good at gymnastics/anything climbing. Last week we realized that he can climb our 6 foot fence! Which is not a good thing considering that the neighbors behind us have a pool! My only thought is to line the fence with barbed wire as it is thoroughly stressing me out! Oh and I have to mention his hair, oh his hair everyone loves his hair! The beach blond of last summer has been nearly all cut off but the blond tips of his rolling curls are mentioned by everyone he meets. Followed by did you get his hair highlighted? Part curiosity, part judgment! No I don't highlight but if his hair gets any darker i might be tempted to! We have spent a better part of the winter trying to convince Bobby to sleep in his own bed all night to very little success. We may get a few nights here and there from him but no good habits have taken yet probably because he is so darn sweet about it. He waits till were sound asleep and creeps in climbs into bed just under the covers on the edge and slowly eeks over into my arms where he says mama hold me and curls into me so sweetly I am melted butter.
Thomas: little T on the scene where the brothers are he is not far to follow! He tries so hard to keep up with them and if memory serves he is keeping up! He is talking like they did at 3 he is only 2! If I turn my back for a moment he is on top of the counters screaming opha and chucking a dish from the shelves! The things he says are amazing! The other night while i was putting him down for bed he said he was scared so I said lets pray to Jesus so we prayed and after I said do you feel better? Yes Jesus is here and points, he has a beard, he loves me, i go nigh nigh now mama! ugh he couldn't be any sweeter. At bed time we sit in the chair and I ask baby baby or nuggle cozy and he either lays in my arms like a baby or nuzzles his face into my neck and curls up in my arms. He smells so sweet and clean i'm certain that if he would let me smell his hair and breath forever I would be content, I rub his soft back and he says mama I want to kiss you and we spend 5 min giving kisses, Pepper kisses are lots of little pecks, baby kiss is the tiniest kiss you can imagine and is always followed by a really big kiss (he thinks this is the funniest because I pretend I can't breath and he is pushing me over), then a butterfly kiss and nose kisses another pepper and its time to get in bed. Oh how I wish he wouldn't get any bigger but every day he does and every day I loose a bit of my baby to this amazing big boy.
How the time flies by with them. It is so true that the days seem to last forever yet the weeks, months and years seem to disappear! With that I hope I am more faithful in posting as I can only imagine how precious this will be to me and hopefully my boys when these busy years are behind us.
