Let's see where to start?
winter
We have had a rough but great winter here in the Day house. We all had Swine flu to start off the fall then countless colds and coughs then there was Bill and my trip to Clearwater Fl that was quite relaxing and cold but our return was greeted by Henry's pneumonia, Bobby's bronchitis, and Thomas's green nose!
Christmas was filled with storybook anticipation and we started a wonderful tradition of paper-crafting all the decorations on the tree together. Every afternoon we would go to the craft room and make paper garland or snowflakes, angels, hearts etc. What a fun way to spend the cold afternoons and it was the most beautiful tree we have ever had!
The week after Christmas we went to Dillon Colorado and the big boys learned how to ski! They really took to it incredibly well. The first day of ski school by mid morning they were in the second day class because they were out doing the other kids and the second day we were the teachers and they were fantastic, wild but fantastic. Not bad for these flatlander kansas boys! The rest of the winter back in KC Bill took them up to Snow Creek where they really got the hang of it and Henry decided Bill and Bobby were just to slow for him and took off on his own! Much to Bills surprise he looks up to see Henry flying down the black slope, granted it is Kansas so I imagine it is like a CO blue slope but still! We can't wait to get them back on the slopes again next winter and I believe that this is another Christmas tradition we have started, a week in CO skiing with the boys!
Henry lost his first tooth March 31 and we spent 2weeks talking about it and tugging on it till Caleb came over one night and just pushed and pulled the right amount and out it popped! Henry came running in just beaming and holding his tooth, the tooth fairy brought him $3 and a stack of quarters! At school Henry is known for being the fastest freeze tagger and will only wear his fast shoes, no slowing him down! He is so excited to be going to kindergarden next year where he will be a Leawood Leopard! I think it is going to be a wonderful year for him. There are 9 kids in our neighborhood going to kindergarden this fall and we are spending a lot of time getting to know everyone. I am thrilled by all the families we are near and am so grateful that we get to have so many wonderful families and friends we get to share our experience with.
Henry has also started soccer this spring and is loving it. He is using that speed on the field and is quite coordinated, he has scored a goal at each game and has been (as always) very helpful to his team mates in steeling the ball. After he scores a goal it is so cute how his chest puffs out and he is an inch taller with pride. He is also loving tennis and is a pretty good shot for only just beginning. My first baby is not a baby at all anymore and is really 6 years old how can that possibly be? But its true, he is a wonderful big brother and is especially good with babies. Every morning on our drive to school we say our morning prayers and his are always finished with "and please give us a baby sister and another baby brother" All I have to say to that is good luck maybe you have an "IN" with the big guy.
Bobby has had a great year at school. He has made a best friend Noah they play so well together and Bobby and Thomas just love to go to Noah's Gym (where us moms play tennis together) then we all go out to lunch and at 1 Bobby and Noah have gymnastics class while Thomas and I watch. Bobby is very good at gymnastics/anything climbing. Last week we realized that he can climb our 6 foot fence! Which is not a good thing considering that the neighbors behind us have a pool! My only thought is to line the fence with barbed wire as it is thoroughly stressing me out! Oh and I have to mention his hair, oh his hair everyone loves his hair! The beach blond of last summer has been nearly all cut off but the blond tips of his rolling curls are mentioned by everyone he meets. Followed by did you get his hair highlighted? Part curiosity, part judgment! No I don't highlight but if his hair gets any darker i might be tempted to! We have spent a better part of the winter trying to convince Bobby to sleep in his own bed all night to very little success. We may get a few nights here and there from him but no good habits have taken yet probably because he is so darn sweet about it. He waits till were sound asleep and creeps in climbs into bed just under the covers on the edge and slowly eeks over into my arms where he says mama hold me and curls into me so sweetly I am melted butter.
Thomas: little T on the scene where the brothers are he is not far to follow! He tries so hard to keep up with them and if memory serves he is keeping up! He is talking like they did at 3 he is only 2! If I turn my back for a moment he is on top of the counters screaming opha and chucking a dish from the shelves! The things he says are amazing! The other night while i was putting him down for bed he said he was scared so I said lets pray to Jesus so we prayed and after I said do you feel better? Yes Jesus is here and points, he has a beard, he loves me, i go nigh nigh now mama! ugh he couldn't be any sweeter. At bed time we sit in the chair and I ask baby baby or nuggle cozy and he either lays in my arms like a baby or nuzzles his face into my neck and curls up in my arms. He smells so sweet and clean i'm certain that if he would let me smell his hair and breath forever I would be content, I rub his soft back and he says mama I want to kiss you and we spend 5 min giving kisses, Pepper kisses are lots of little pecks, baby kiss is the tiniest kiss you can imagine and is always followed by a really big kiss (he thinks this is the funniest because I pretend I can't breath and he is pushing me over), then a butterfly kiss and nose kisses another pepper and its time to get in bed. Oh how I wish he wouldn't get any bigger but every day he does and every day I loose a bit of my baby to this amazing big boy.
How the time flies by with them. It is so true that the days seem to last forever yet the weeks, months and years seem to disappear! With that I hope I am more faithful in posting as I can only imagine how precious this will be to me and hopefully my boys when these busy years are behind us.
